The first church in this area dated even from the Nemanjics period in 14th century. In written documents, the monastery has been mentioned since 1548. It is situated at the foot of Cer Mountain, in a village called Radovasnica that is 23 km far from Sabac. It is dedicated to Saint Archangel Gavrilo, and the chapel is dedicated to Most Holy Virgin’s Shroud. The monastery shared the people’s destiny, so apart from being burnt and demolished during the Turkish invasion, it was also burnt and demolished in the First World War. After that, the church was reconstructed and a representative dormitory was built. In the autumn of 1941, after the unsuccessful attack of partisans and chetniks on Sabac, the German army ran away. The monastery was demolished on 12th October, 1941. After the Second World War, the monastery’s reconstruction was started, and it has been intensified for the last ten years. A new chapel and a new dormitory are built and reconstruction of the demolished monastery church will soon be started on its old foundations.
