The town of Sabac has been the host of International swimming marathon for 38 years, and this year, it’s going to be the host of FINA CUP for the fifth time, as one of 15 cities in the world. This means that the best world marathon swimmers will come to our country and Sabac. In previous years, swimmers from about 15 countries took place in FINA CUP in Sabac together with aces such as: Jevgenij Bezrucenko and Anton Sanacev (Russia), Petar Stojcev (Bulgaria), Stefan Gomez (France), Igor Majcen (Slovenia), Irena Van Dajk (Holland), Brita Kamrau and Angela Murer (Germany) and others. All of them participated in the biggest swimming competitions worldwide and many of them won the shiniest medals. This is an extremely big affirmation for Sabac, Serbian sport and, of course, for the Republic of Serbia. This year, FINA CUP will be held on 13th July on the river Sava as always, starting in Jarak (the Municipality of Sremska Mitrovica) and finishing in Sabac. The swimming path is 19km long. Apart from this strictly sport competition, in FINA CUP, we also organize a number of interesting amusing – recreational programmes. The youngest visitors compete in swimming across 50m sections, shoot from the line of three points, archers demonstrate their skills with an arch and bow as well as martial arts experts…During that time, a music programme is going on with famous musicians, actors, sportsmen…Experts in making fish broth have their own competition for ‘the best fish cauldron’. Over 20,000 visitors from Sabac are in the audience as well as a large number of tourist from Serbia and abroad. Numerous and important media follow this swimming spectacle, especially ever since it has finally been put in FINA CUP. Tourist organization of Sabac municipality, as the marathon organizer, tries to organize this manifestation better and more successfully from year to year. We use this opportunity to invite all people who like sport, swimming and nature to come to Sabac and assure themselves that FINA CUP – International swimming marathon from Sabac is attractive and eventful.
