At the end of 20th century, after more than five centuries of its tumultuous history, Sabac gets ready to step into 21st century proudly. It is well known that specific pride and egotism characterizes every youth, and Sabac, conscious of being a relatively young town, also heads towards this millennium advance proudly and euphorically. Reasons for this pride must be acknowledged because it’s not a small thing for a town to become the centre of Macva County and, at the same time, administrative, economy, health, educational and sport centre of the region called Podrinje. 

The Municipality of Sabac covers the area of 797m² and has 127,000 inhabitants. Today, the town of Sabac has many functions that altogether make it become highly rated in Serbia and Yugoslavia even nowadays. Even after a longer period of time under familiar political circumstances, Sabac managed to keep the vitality of its economy and stay in the upper place among other Serbian towns considering real incomes of its citizens. The transformation of the ownership over capital forms and even larger private sector role contribute a lot to improvement of general image of the town’s and its Municipality’s economic life.

Situated in a modern urban planning way, leant against a big river, well connected in the traffic sense, with moderate climate, lots of healthy drinking water, with possibility of widening towards its background, Sabac really represents a merely ideal place for healthy, comfortable and productive life. Therefore, this town has always been ready to consider new ideas and has always first accepted and realized them in a practical way whereas they have frequently been improved and given a new, more beautiful sense precisely in Sabac.

 Sabac has a very modern hospital centre nowadays where an imposing number of doctors and specialists work and where a huge number of check-ups and interventions are done every day. Doctors of Sabac keep up with the top world courses in most branches of medicine, and, besides many hardships, they manage to provide adequate medical help to their patients.
Everything that characterizes Sabac and its citizens cannot be said in the language of figures or in a monotonous textual presentation. Namely, that is the specific, always young and restless, ‘civijaski’ spirit of Sabac. The spirit has been present for centuries. It lives as if it were fed by this air of Sabac, and everyone who stays in this town for a longer period of time unfailingly starts to accept the spirit even if they were not born in Sabac. Some character streaks of Sabac citizens, named ‘civijasi’, are fine jokes, a special sense of humour – both at someone else’s and one’s own expense, a specific attitude to the flow of time as if tried to be stopped in an inn. Presumably, there are no more inns in relation to the number of citizens anywhere in Serbia and presumably, they are nowhere as crowded as they are here. And new ones are constantly being opened, whereas the old ones rarely disappear. Every guest, especially the one from some other place, is warmly welcomed. There is live music in many of these catering establishments as if Sabac had sworn to keep the Cicvarics’ testament forever. Sabac is the town of the young. Its youth is evident wherever you go – overcrowded schools, cheerful children’s laughter all around, overflowing sport courts, cafés, discos…A long time ago, Sabac grew out of local proportions so that secondary - school pupils and students from other towns come to schools in Sabac nowadays. Numerous sport competitions, cultural happenings and other various manifestations encourage socializing and arrival of young people from other places to Sabac, the town which has always welcomed all well-intentioned people with all its heart. You will assure yourselves of the town’s and its citizens’ hospitability, as well as the quality of its catering offers when you visit some of catering establishments in Sabac.
